Ohio manufacturers achieve excellence

Article Abstract:

The Ohio Manufacturers Assn sponsors the Case Studies in Team Excellence Competition which honor ongoing programs, process change or one-time projects developed by employees to reduce costs, improve quality or increase productivity. The 1992 winners were Philips Display Components Co's 'Particle Team,' which reduce particle related effects in picture tubes and Bellemar Parts Industries' 'The Night Owls,' who presented ways of reducing repairs on seat shipping conveyors.

First Frontier Fund & jobs bill - Ohio's one-two punch

Article Abstract:

The Ohio Dept of Development created the First Frontier Fund initially to help fund marketing programs of businesses which relocated to the Appalachian region. The state of Ohio would match each dollar an Ohio-based company spends for marketing. First Frontier Fund will also be used to advertize Ohio's Jobs Creation Act. First Frontier Fund Dir Mike Eberly believes that the statewide marketing campaign for the business legislation package would need about $7 million.

Export Ohio

Article Abstract:

The Ohio state government developed programs to encourage export activities such as creation of the Ohio Exports Promotion and Trade Council, designation of Columbus as a trade center and implementation of the Ohio Jobs Bill that gives incentives for export activities. Among the Ohio companies that went into exporting to increase their business are Rockwell International, Vita-Mix Corp, Invacare Corp and Royal Appliance.
