Open spaces

Article Abstract:

Demand for office space in the City of London, England, is very competitive, with much of the small amount of speculative development under offer. Some property experts suggest the demand for space of over 350,000 sq ft is growing. Others point to the lack of office space as being partly due to the demand of banking institutions, which require space for a short period of time. Development outside the central part of London is taking place whilst some sites are being redeveloped for other uses. It is estimated that 3.2m sq ft of new office space is being built in central London.

Riding high on hi-tech demand

Article Abstract:

Local agents report the demand of offices in Dublin, Ireland, is buoyant, with several major firms looking for large units. The city seems particularly attractive to technology companies, such as Oracle and Dell. Green Property have purchased Microsoft's Dublin building for 57.2 million Irish pounds which they plan to leaseback to Microsoft. They are also undertaking the speculative development of two office buildings. It is estimated some 2 million sq ft of new office space will come on to the market in 1999, of which some 53% is in the centre of the city.
