The end of unlimited liability partnerships is in sight because investment banking partnership, Goldman Sachs is going to float part of its equity on the stock market and large accountancy partnerships have been in discussion with the government to come up with a structure called limited liability partnership. Limited liability will alter how companies are governed because partners who have limited liability are unlikely to be as vigilant as a partner who has unlimited liability. This is especially important when companies are making risky investments.
