Psst! Read this, man! Promos from the far side

Article Abstract:

Development companies are using innovative promotions to generate interest among businesses. Amarillo Economic Development Corp. generated the most interest when it sent out checks for $8 million each to the 1,000 largest and fastest-growing US companies. The checks were meant to promote the generous incentives that will be given to companies relocating to Amarillo, TX. Other companies with similar, if less ingenuous promotions, include the Carlyle Economic Development Council in Illinois, the Cedar City Iron County Economic Development in Utah and Broward Economic Development Council in Florida.
