It is likely that extensive development work will begin taking place around the junction of the M4 and the M5. Work has already begun on the construction of the Cribbs Causeway Regional Shopping Centre, which will offer outlets for more than 140 retailers and will cost 200 million pounds sterling. In the commercial sector, the most significant development in the area will be ICI's 1,800 acre Western Approach development on Severnside. The first phase of the scheme will offer 2.35 million sq ft of space.

Getting around obstacles

Article Abstract:

The town of Cheltenham, England, has been successful in attracting a number of new occupiers recently and in encouraging the relocation to larger premises of existing occupiers. These include Gulf Oil, which came to the town in 1977 and now has 7,897 sq mt of purpose-built space overlooking Cheltenham Racecourse, and Astec Group, which is now one of the town's leading employers. Cheltenham offers good communications and a highly qualified workforce.
