The U.S. Northeast: open for business
Article Abstract:
The Northeastern states of Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey have refabricated their image to become a business-friendly region. Pennsylvania Gov Tom Ridge's institution of large tax cuts has been deemed the drawing force for the nearly 400 business transfers recorded in 1998. The same strategy was implemented by New York Gov George Pataki plus commitment to a more streamlined government processing of business permits. New Jersey's business incentive package included a sales tax break, research grants and occupational training financing.
