The corporate real estate executive: a profession in transition

Article Abstract:

Changes in the business environment have brought on new roles and responsibilities for corporate real estate professionals all over the world. Today's corporate real estate managers must be business leaders who are not only ready to learn new methods but are flexible enough to adapt to new developments as well. Managers also need to be global in their business outlook and they should have a working knowledge of current information technologies. They must also be adept in transforming the company's real estate assets and occupancy costs into positive cash flow.

More importantly, IDRC is streamlining its organization by expanding operation globally and redefining its objectives based on leadership, learning and leverage.

From fixed assets to flexible infrastructures

The International Development Research Council (IDRC) has realized that the usual fixed real estate assets of companies are a huge hindrance for success in the face of globalization and the emergence of small firms which are not burdened by fixed buildings and factories. The IDRC is searching for the best practices and methods for converting fixed assets into very flexible and economically-effective infrastructures.
