Migration decisions, agrarian structure, and gender: the case of Ecuador
Article Abstract:
The pattern of migration flow from rural to urban areas can be slowed down or even reversed by improving living conditions in rural areas. Measures such as meaningful agrarian reforms, investments in rural areas and credit and price policies that encourage food production all represent efforts toward making rural areas attractive to residents. This would be a deviation from many developing countries' policy of funneling investments into urban areas. The experience of Ecuador relative to internal migration is discussed.

The evangelical church and the development of neoliberal society: a study of the role of the evangelical church and its NGOs in Guatemala and Honduras
Article Abstract:
Evangelist and political scientist Amy Sherman believes that the adoption of neoliberal development techniques by Latin Americans would be advantageous, especially to the poor sector. Her view is shared by international agencies such as the IMF, World Bank, and USAID. The role of the evangelical church, through its non-governmental organizations, is seen as a catalyst for regional development. However, neoliberal policies would be possibly hindered by social and historical differences, which exist between countries.
