Public opinion and nuclear options for South Asia
Article Abstract:
The findings of two comprehensive surveys of elite attitudes on the policy of India and Pakistan regarding nuclear weapons are presented with the similarities and differences highlighted. The motivations that drive these attitudes are compared with the results and other considerations that may influence the attitude of the respondents. Recommendations on policy initiatives based on the results of the surveys are presented.

Japan's relations with South Asia
Article Abstract:
South Asian nations have been pursuing economic liberalization and deregulation and have undertaken a series of political reforms. Although cultivating a relationship with South Asia is strategically important, Japan's economic influence in the region is not as strong as other Asian sub-regions. Commercial ties in terms of aid, trade and investment remain underdeveloped.
