The return of democratic government to Argentina in 1983 meant local motion pictures promoted positive images of a democratic Argentina. Films such as 'The Official Story' (1985) were made for an international middle-class audience to globally sanitize Argentina's image.

Constructing America for German reconstruction: American films and re-education in occupied German, 1945-1947
Article Abstract:
US motion pictures were used to discourage the remnants of national socialism in Germany after World War II. Some of the highest quality films were sent to the US occupation zone and often showed how American capitalism and democracy were preferable to Soviet communism.

Vanishing points: roads and national identites in modern Brazilian film

Road films are a common motif in contemporary Brazilian film that communicate a national identification. The work of such directors as Nelson Pereira dos Santos and Walter Sallesore use roads to create and surmount distance, establishing a sense of arrival and finality.
