German studies and globalization: Beyond eurocentrism
Article Abstract:
Investigations of German history, society, and culture would change if Germany's centuries of ties to the rest of the world were acknowledged and if race and racialization were recognized as categories basic to German self-definition. German scholars are encouraged to lay the framework for a new, post-Eurocentric understanding of Germany through the studies of attempts to integrate race and ethnicity into research on Germany, new paradigms of German Studies analysis, and critiques of Eurocentrism.
