Marta Kauffman and David Crane are both from Philadelphia, but never met until college. They were in New York together for 20 years until 'Dream On,' which gave them the needed break. By the time they came up with 'Friends,' they already had a name in the industry. 'Friends' now rates as the hottest and hippest tv show.
