Article Abstract:
Issues related to online learning are discussed, with a focus on ways to avoid pitfalls. Topics include an online course in French; the student profile for the 1996 pilot course; issues related to online curricular delivery; pedagogical issues, including the appropriateness of technological enhancements to course objectives, time management in an asynchronous, learner-centered format, and student isolation; administrative/technical issues, including technological orientation of students, virtual classroom security, and servers; and professional issues, including teaching loads and professional responsibilities, tenure and promotion, and copyright and intellectual property issues.

Game shows in the classroom

The use of game shows in the French language classroom is discussed. The game shows can provide insight on the use of greetings, common French given names, how the French think, as well as for listening comprehension, vocabulary review, and geography.
