Simms's incarnational theology and the emerging American religion
Article Abstract:
William Gilmore Simms's religious insight and theological method were decidedly incarnation and emphatic in the era prevailing two theological notes. It reveals that, Simms knew the difference cultivated in the American South especially by long attention given to the truth of God incarnate among men and women, which he has expressed through his views in his poems.

William Gilmore Simms's contribution to the literature of nineteenth-century America, on two subjects, Simms's placement or displacement within the American literary canon, and Simms's ideas about understanding of language and how it informs his works as a writer are discussed. It reveals not only Simms's poetry but also the poetic theories that inform it.
