The effect of unions on the structure of wages: a longitudinal analysis
Article Abstract:
The influence of the presence of labor unions on the structure of wages is analyzed by evaluating misclassification errors in reported union status and potential correlations between union status and unobserved productivity. A longitudinal estimation technique is used in the investigation. Results show significant wage differences between broad skill groups in the union sector. This finding suggests that the union wage effect is larger for less-skilled workers.
