Vote-buying in Thailand's northeast: the July 1995 general election
Article Abstract:
Vote-buying and other abuses characterized Thailand's general election in Jul. 1995. Unscrupulous activities during the election were more prevalent in the northeastern part of the country. The victory of parliamentary candidates in the northeast was dependent on the candidates' wealth, achievements and personal qualities. The outcome of the July 1995 election proved that business interests have been gaining increasing control over the electoral process in Thailand.

The 1997 general election in Indonesia
Article Abstract:
The sixth parliamentary election in Indonesia held on May 29, 1997 resulted in a landslide victory for the government-controlled Golongan Karya (Golkar). However, observers argue that electoral laws were openly violated to ensure the victory of Golkar. This political exercise were viewed by many as an outlet for political frustrations as seen from the occurrence of riots in various cities all over the country.
