Article Abstract:
A visit to the venerable Institute of Pennsylvania Hospital and interviews with its psychiatrist-directors and staff nurses reveal the absence of warmth and meaningful care within the environment of a mental hospital. Rules are rigid and both staff and patients live a drab existence.
