Varieties of labor politics in Northeast Asian democracies: Political institutions and union activism in Korea and Taiwan
Article Abstract:
The pattern of union activism in post-democratization labor politics is critically shaped by union interaction with political institutions and actors, notably with political parties. Institutional incentives and constraints, the permissiveness of national and local political institutions and electoral incentives for partisan alliance have both molded the type of labor politics in Northeast Asian democracies like Taiwan and Korea.

The Chinese-Korean border issue: An analysis of a contested frontier
Article Abstract:
The inherited border disputes between Korea and China has caused moments of considerable tension since 1950 and the two are not able to solve their territorial problems. Looking at past examples, where China has almost always adopted a hard-line position, it would not be easy for North Korea presently or for a united Korea in future to reach a satisfactory agreement with China over their common border.
