The article reviews socio-political dynamics and economic growth of Vietnam in 2007. Vietnam's growth in gross domestic product is the country's highest growth rate in 10 years with industrial and service sectors playing a dominant role and to maintain this, it needs to upgrade its economic and social infrastructure.

Vietnam visualized a combination of rapid economic growth with continued evidence of weak central political authority in the year 2004. However, the loss of quotas on exports of garments and footwear and slow progress toward joining the World Trade organization suggested that 2005 could be a successful year.
