Constructive learning: a new approach to deploying technological systems into the workplace

Article Abstract:

Constructive learning is effective in introducing material requirements planning (MRP), the widely used computer-based manufacturing resource and inventory management system. This was gleaned from the application of constructive learning in deploying MRP in a major transportation maintenance facility. Despite the reputation of MRP as difficult to install successfully, two-day constructive learning workshops proved effective in reducing the operatives' learning period by more than a year. Its efficiency is attributed to the fact that it allows various ways of learning, which facilitates quicker and deeper learning.
