An overview is presented on a meeting held to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of California at Santa Barbara. Topics discussed at the meeting included string theory, a new Higgs particle model, condensed matter physics, quantum computing and nanophysics.
