Speed Week at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah is a gathering of amateur motoring enthusiasts, many of whom are trying to break the wheel-driven land speed record. Al Teague, who holds the record of 410 mph, fell short of his attempt to better the mark.

Issues are presented concerning the effect which increasing numbers of automobile-base gadgets is having on the concentration of motorists. The use of a simulator to study motorist behavior when distracted is discussed.
