Cairo conference goals begin to gain momentum
Article Abstract:
The 1994 United Nations International Conference on Population and Development set out long-term plans to make improvements in health and education. Since then, a 1995 worldwide survey on key subject areas such as reproductive rights and population trends has resulted in the implementation of a number of action plans intended to reduce teenage pregnancy and promote women's rights. Other plans under the headings: health-care costs; structure and access; social and culture forces; men as partners and role of non-governmental organisations are also discussed.

Cairo consensus sparks new hopes, old worries
Article Abstract:
The United Nation's 1994 International Conference on Population and Development was considered to be successful because it proposed a constructive programme to control the world's population. The conference concluded that women all over the globe should be given access to health, sex and pregnancy education. It also progressed many other issues involving women's rights. However, the conference agenda did not concentrate on sustained development projects to redistribute the obvious imbalance of wealth around the globe.

Net gain
Article Abstract:
Networking enables transfer of digital information collectively and involves either local area networks (LAN) for a small number of people housed in a complex or wide area networks (WAN) for linking distant sites. LANs are based on the Ethernet and token ring standards and can support up to 30 workstations while the WANs are based on 2 Mbit/s leased lines to international standard G.703, supplemented by dial-up services. The corporate WAN supports both centralization and decentralization.
