Challenging an ice-core paleothermometer

Article Abstract:

An analysis of temperatures in a Greenland ice-core borehole has challenged the surface-temperature history derived earlier using ice-core oxygen-isotope stratigraphy. The analysis could be useful in calibrating the oxygen-isotope paleothermometer of the ice core.

The model of the paleotopography of glacial-age ice sheets suggesting a lower elevation for the northern hemisphere sheet than previously believed should be corrected for tectonic uplift in Papua New Guinea and Barbados.

Dating of the Devils Hole calcite vein

A model that would alter the 230Th dating used at Devils Hole, NV, by assuming adsorption of 230Th from groundwater to the walls of the hole during calcite growth is presented.
