Chemists explore the power of one: by tracking the behavior of individual molecules as they react, chemists are finding answers to long-standing questions ranging from how muscles contract to why light-emitting polymers burn out
Article Abstract:
Techniques for viewing single molecules in action are being put to practical use, as reported in a recent American Chemical Soc meeting. Studies of flavoenzymes that fluoresce at different rates, proteins involved in muscle contraction, and light-emitting polymers are described.

Fast-action flicks draw chemists' rave reviews: molecular movies
Article Abstract:
Diffraction technology, which shoots a beam of x-rays or electronics at a molecular subject, has increased in pulsation frequency, now producing virtual movies of molecules in motion. The state of current electron-diffraction imaging development is analyzed.
