Colorful pebbles and Darwin's dictum

Article Abstract:

Charles Darwin wrote in 1861 response to talk that geologists should only observe and not theorize that if that was true then one could just to into a gravel-pit and count the pebbles and describe the colors. An analysis of how scientific facts must be interpreted is presented.

PlatoEs descriptions of Atlantis have prompted numerous claims that the real Atlantis has been found. Given that Plato was writing a cautionary tale in an attempt to alert his countrymen to the dangers of greed and corruption, such claims are absurd.
