Companions to young stars

Article Abstract:

Recent astronomical research indicates that binary stars are much more prevalent than previously thought. The observational data suggest that most binary stars evolved together as a binary pair, rather than being formed through the capture of one star by another's gravitational field.

Binary neutron stars

Article Abstract:

The study of binary neutron stars offer an excellent method for verifying the theories of general relativity and astrophysics. Since their discovery in 1974, countless scientists have examined their behavior, with the hope of obtaining a better understanding of the universe.

Accretion disks in interacting binary stars

Article Abstract:

Disks of matter arrange themselves around celestial objects ranging from new stars to quasars. Studying interacting binary stars has helped astronomical researchers understand how these disks act.
