Breaking the rules: phalaropes are very peculiar shorebirds indeed
Article Abstract:
Phalaropes are deviations from other shorebird species as they display characteristics uncommon to a shorebird. For one, phalaropes migrate to unlikely wintering sites. Female phalaropes exhibit a dominant nature leaving the males to incubate the eggs which is a very unusual event.

The loon is one among the duck species which has survived the Ice Age due to its ability to adjust to its environment. However, this adaptation is marred by man who destroy the loon's habitat depriving them protection from the harsher elements of nature.
