Coupling the vertical distribution of ozone in the atmospheric boundary layer

Article Abstract:

Researchers from North Carolina used a 610 m tall shower to measure the vertical distribution of ozone in the atmospheric boundary layer and to predict ozone concentrations on the ground zone level.

Reduced gas-phase kinetic mechanism for atmospheric plum chemistry

Article Abstract:

A reduced gas-phase kinetic mechanism for atmospheric plume chemistry is developed and validated against a full chemical kinetic mechanism to lessen the computational difficulties. The reduced mechanism was utilized in simulating plume chemistry according to three stages of plume evolution. Results reveal that the reduced mechanism allowed a reduction in computational time of up to a factor of 3 for 10% accuracy in simulated plume concentrations.
