Court upholds need to protect habitat
Article Abstract:
The Supreme Court upheld restrictions on land use under the Endangered Species Act, interpreting the word 'harm' to include modification of endangered animals' habitat. The suit had been brought by timber interests in Sweet Home, OR, and joined by companies in Georgia and Washington State.

Panel finds gap in violence studies

Federal panel recommends universities play bigger role
Article Abstract:
The Commission on Research Integrity has recommended revisions in federal definitions of scientific misconduct to make them more specific and easier to interpret. The revisions would make it easier to sanction lesser infractions of ethics.
