Divalent metal ion-catalyzed hydrolysis of phosphorothionate ester pesticides and their corresponding oxonates

Article Abstract:

Copper ions and lead ions were found to be capable of catalyzing the hydrolysis of oxonate and thionate organophosphorous pesticides at varying pH levels. Of these two divalent transition metal ions, which were also tested against the nickel, cobalt and lead ions, the copper ion was found to be the most effective in achieving hydrolysis for oxonate and thionate esters analyzed.
