Breaching dams may save salmon, but the science remains an issue

Article Abstract:

A December 1999 study by the Army Corps of Engineers stated that breaching four dams could recover salmon runs on the Snake River in the state of Washington. The report has limited support from the scientific community due in part to some controversial data taken from the National Marine Fisheries Service.

Will drilling for oil disrupt the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge?

Article Abstract:

President George W. Bush's promise to drill for oil in Alaska's National Wildlife Refuge has reopened the battle of protecting wilderness over drilling for oil. Many conservationists feel that the refuge's unique biological aspects that will be destroyed despite new advances in technology to minimize the impact of drilling are not worth losing for the small amount of oil to be gained by drilling, and proponents of drilling in the refuge say there has never been a better time to do so with gas prices above $2 in some regions.
