Endangered species legislation grows stronger - so does opposition

Article Abstract:

A number of suggestions from concerned environmental groups and individuals have been incorporated into new amendments to Bill C-65. Among the new amendments are the protection of 'residences' and 'species', and the responsibility of the federal government in regulating prohibitions by local governments.

Endangered species legislation in limbo

Article Abstract:

The endangered species legislation has died down after the federal election in April 1997 and uncertainties of its reintroduction in the next federal Parliament have bothered members of the Canadian Endangered Species Coalition. Members are still continuing their fight for an effective ruling.

Endangered species legislation on the federal back-burner

Article Abstract:

The Canadian Nature Federation (CNF) is continuing its efforts on behalf of endangered species. The CNF has asked the goverment to implement decisive policies to the protection of endangered species. A conference is set in Newfoundland for wildlife ministers on October 1998.
