Face to the wind

Article Abstract:

The market shares of windmills are improving in Europe, with the development of more efficient and technically more reliable turbines. Onshore wind generation capacity has increased forty fold in six years in United Kingdom alone. Technical research has enabled engineers to design turbines which produce around 1,000 kW to 1,200 kW of wind energy. The level of noise during production has come down significantly. Several European Union programs encourage the production of wind-generated electricity.

Coming out: robots are no longer confined to laboratories or production lines

Article Abstract:

Robots are no longer confined to industrial processes but are beginning to gain acceptance in domestic environments. Sony's Aibo, a robotic pet dog, is the first robot that has increased the workload of its owners, leading to worldwide sales of 10,000 units. Another example of robots' success in the real world is a robotic barmaid, Cynthia, which serves cocktails in a London bar. Cybernetic Instruments, developer of Cynthia, plans to build similar robots for bars in Britain's major cities.
