Article Abstract:

Ecologist Robert Lambeck has developed a endangered-species conservation model based on complex landscapes instead of individual species. The few remaining tracks of pristine land in Australia, mostly private land, will be studied and species will be linked into groups requiring similar strategies.

Wide use of rabbit virus is good news for native species

Australian officials report excellent results from the use of rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus to control a plague of European rabbits. The rabbit population has dropped 95% in some areas, and native plants and animals are rebounding.
