The role of the Grand Challenge robotic vehicles race in the development of mobile robotics development is examined, focusing on the participation of William Whittaker, director of Carnegie Mellon University's Field Robotics Center. Applications of mobile robotics include nuclear and volcanic research. Performances of other participants in the race are also discussed.

Musical medicine: a high-tech piano treats a repetitive stress disorders

The way in which musical instrument acts a medicine and helps in relieving the stress is discussed. Kathleen M. Riley, a music technologist and dystonia therapist at New York University, coaches the musician to play in ways that allay the cramps and release the stress.
