Article Abstract:

The GFX heat-recovery system developed under a Dept of Energy grant is a simple device that preheats incoming water. One limitation of GFX is it only functions when the drain and supply lines are used simultaneously. Fifty percent of the energy that homes use to heat water can be saved using GFX.

Award-winning home designs

Article Abstract:

Holloway Co and Dominion Building Group, two of the winners in the National Assn of Home Builders Research Center's Energy Value Housing Awards, used insulated concrete forms in their designs. These forms were capable of reducing air filtration and thermal mass to lower heating and cooling costs.

The mirror has two faces

Article Abstract:

A description is presented of the development of a bathroom glass panel heater which is capable of producing radiant heat. The heater consists of a metallic layer sandwiched between two sheets of glass.
