Getting to the nonpoint source with GIS

Article Abstract:

The Galveston Bay National Estuary Program is using geographic information systems (GIS) to studynon-point-source pollution at the bay. The GIS is used in mapping the bay's geography, studying land-use data, computing the amount of pollution and producing charts and graphs to present the results. Areas within the watershed that have the highest concentration of pollution can be pinpointed by using theGIS. These locations are given priority in plans for controlling pollution at the bay.
