Growing more food with less water
Article Abstract:
Irrigation farming, while permitting farmers to produce exponentially more crops with greater yield, is accompanied by numerous ill consequences related to harmful deposits left when water evaporates. Countries must cooperate to implement new methods of maximizing crop yields to feed a growing population, while protecting a global water supply that is dangerously threatened. Alternatives to traditional irrigation farming are explored, and methods for reducing the amount of water needed to produce sufficient food supplies are examined.
