HONG KONG: PHOTO MAKER HAD HK$ 81MN PROFIT

Article Abstract:

Photo product manufacturer and distributor, China Hong Kong Photo Products, reported an unaudited interim profit of HK$ 81.53mn in the six months to September 2000. China Hong Kong Photo is the distributor of Fuji products in Hong Kong. It sold 9.4% more photo products with a revenue of HK$ 792.5mn in the period. Sales of imaging systems like instant cameras and digital cameras had strong growth in 2001. It sold 40 sets of FDI (laser photographic solution at HK$ 1mn each) in Hong Kong and about 30 sets in China.

Technology is culture: Two paradigms

Article Abstract:

The relationship of technology to culture in the People's Republic of China, between 2001 and 2004 is discussed. It is suggested that the two paradigms of 'accumulation of decisions' and 'struggle against difference' can be used to describe technology in its relation to culture, including popular electronic music in Beijing.

Fabricating and controlling molecular self-organization at solid-surfaces: Studies by scanning tunneling microscopy

Article Abstract:

The control and fabrication of self-organized molecular adlayers on solid substrates is described. Using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) to probe the structure of these molecular architectures, it is possible to determine the surface quality to single molecule resolution.
