Hearing process proves a challenge for ORI

Article Abstract:

The Office of Scientific Integrity's new court-like system for hearings of scientific misconduct got off to a questionable start in the case of Mikulas Popovic, AIDS researcher on the staff of Robert Gallo's lab. Details of the case indicate the difficulty of prosecution.

Clinton asks for a greener DOE

Article Abstract:

Clinton is expected to ask Congress in Apr 1993 for a 7.2% increase in DOE's general science and energy supply research programs. The largest increases in funding will be proposed for solar and other renewable energy sources and for biological and environmental research.
