Highlights of HPLC 2006
Article Abstract:
The details of the 30th International Symposium on High Performance Liquid Phase Separations and Related Techniques, or HPLC 2006, are discussed. The symposium, which was held in San Francisco, California from June 17 to 22, 2006, featured over 1200 scientists from 45 countries. A total of 680 symposium papers, 160 oral sessions, 7 vendor seminars, and 520 posters in sessions with 27 themes, were presented.

Crash and bloom: A self-defeating regenerative system
Article Abstract:
'Crash and bloom' is an electronic sculpture that undergoes population density cycles similar to those found in some natural systems. The system is made up of 42 boxes, their sample behaviors, and the interconnection topology of the boxes with one another which enables them to pass 'ping' messages around the network.
