Hormone effects in men and fish subject of new UK study
Article Abstract:
Chemicals will be investigated by the UK as to their endocrine-disrupting effects on human males and fish. The UK will conduct a $5-million research for that purpose, since there has been reports that endocrine disruptors are to blame in declining sperm counts and quality; birth defects; and negative effects on fish. The research will comprise of two sets of study, with one investigate the effects of occupation, environmental factors and chemical exposure in the womb on male reproductive health, while the other will look into effects on marine fish and crustaceans.

Thermodynamics of Calcite Growth: Baseline for Understanding Biomineral Formation
Article Abstract:
Some organisms use organic compounds to mediate inorganic crystallization. Research on biomineralization promises many possible applications. Research on calcite crystallization from solution onto a seed crystal which tests the Gibbs Thomspson effect and shows that the process is in accordance with equilibrium thermodynamics.

Understanding how cells allocate metals using metal sensors and metallochaperones
Article Abstract:
Metal sensors and metallochaperones are used for understanding the allocation of metals by cells. Metal sensors and metal transporters and metal-storage proteins act in concert not only to support the correct metals but also to withhold the wrong ones.
