Obesity: leptin receptor weighs in

A Millennium Pharmaceuticals research team led by Louis Tartaglia and Robert Tepper have isolated two receptors in mice and humans that mediate the effect of leptin in the body. Leptin is a protein that controls body weight, and the receptors could be useful in the development of anti-obesity drugs.

Researcher Nina Kraus provides evidence of neurophysiological differences between learning impaired and children who acquire language and reading skills normally. She demonstrates that the brain's of some children with language or reading problems are unable to discriminate among phonemes.
