Impact from the deep

Article Abstract:

Undeveloped geochemical evidence originates from the bands of stratified rock that delineate mass extinction events in the geologic record, including the exciting discovery of chemical residues known as organic biomarkers, produced by tiny life-forms that typically do not leave fossils. To understand the general enthusiasm for the impact of paradigm, physicists have given two separate hypotheses, first that a fairly large asteroid estimated to have been 10 kilometers in diameter struck the earth 65 million years ago and second that the environmental consequences of the impact snuffed out more than half of all species.

Refuges for life in a hostile universe

Article Abstract:

Research into the possibility of complex life on other planets is discussed. The requirements for sustaining life, such as surface water and orbital stability, and the concept of a circumstellar habitable zone, are explored.
