Bioavailability of particle-associated Se to the bivalve Potamocurbula amurensis

Article Abstract:

This study evaluates the bioavailability forms of Se(O), as found in sediment, by means of producing radioisotopic (super 75)SE(O) through bacterial dissimilatory reduction of (super75)SeO(sub 3)(super 2-) by bacterial cultures (SES) and anaerobic sediment microbial consortium.

Influence of acid volatile sulfides and metal concentrations on metal partitioning in contaminated sediments

Article Abstract:

This study tests the influence of two spiking procedures, using Cd-Ni-Zn mixtures containing four levels of acid volatile sulfide (AVS) or one level of AVS, in aquatic environments, with or without animals. The results of different experimental conditions are analyzed and compared to data from published studies.

Influence of acid volatile sulfide and metal concentrations on metal bioavailability to marine invertebrates in contaminated sediments

Article Abstract:

This study investigates the availability of metal from the environment for accumulation into organisms. Metal concentrations in two clams (Macoma balthica and Potamocorbula amurensis) and three marine polychaetes (Neanthes arenaceodentata, Heteromastus filiformis, and Spiophanes missionensis) were studied.
