Jenny Harrison finally gets tenure in math at Berkeley

Article Abstract:

An independent tenure committee voted unanimously to recommend that Harrison be granted tenure at the University of California in Berkeley, CA. Harrison brought a sex discrimination suit against the university in 1989, charging that she had been denied tenure in 1986 because of sexual discrimination.

Theoretical physicists have developed a new predictive model for computing the masses of elementary particles. The scheme is based on the relationships between three families of particles, and it predicts six of the 13 free parameters that concern the masses of elementary particles.
