Leafy sea dragons

Leafy sea dragons are a variety of fish native to the southwestern coast of Australia best characterized by their broad appendages. Considered one of the most interesting and exotic fishes, the male species of leafy sea dragons are capable of producing eggs.

A harebrained scheme: experimental rabbit-killing virus runs amok in Australia
Article Abstract:
Scientists hoped to control the rabbit population in Australia by conducting tests with a virus on a nearby island. However, the virus, which causes rabbit calicivirus disease, spread through the outback and killed over 95% of the rabbit population.

Australia's polar dinosaurs
Article Abstract:
Some dinosaur species, such as the labyrinthodonts and allosaurs, survived in Australia after having died out in other locations. One theory is that the cool weather helped protect the animals from competition.
