Article Abstract:
A network of microbarographs can help estimate the exit pressure of gasses initially expelled in a volcanic eruption, which in turn can indicate the severity of the eruption. Investigations are also focusing on analysis of the sounds emitted by different types of volcanic activity.

Research on volcanic hazards in Europe
Article Abstract:
Many European countries are cooperating on volcanological research, with most field studies concentrating on the volcanoes of Italy. Phenomena that usually precede eruptions are being monitored at several sights. Research on prevention and risk mitigation is discussed.
