Manitoba's whitewater lake is a birder's paradise

Major conservation efforts have made Manitoba's whitewater lake an attractive and big destination for birders and ecotourists. Whitewater Lake is recognized as a Manitoba Wildlife Management Area, a Priority Bird Habitat of Canadian Importance, and is a candidate to become a National Heritage Marsh in addition to its IBA designation.

The bird-woman of Turtle Lake

The establishment of Saskatoon Nature Society, a natural sanctuary in Turtle Lake, was inspired by Muriel Carlson's dedication to birds. Carlson has spent majority of her life studying birds, analysing their behavior, habitats and even the sound they make.
